Day 8: Santa Monica
Hey y’all! Wassupppppppp J
It’s the sleepy group blogging to you live
from the West Coast! Our new bloggers include Cade Hastings, Cody Allen,
Harrison Miller, Mary Beam, Gracie Crocker, Reagan Griffin, Aubrey Spicola,
Marina Hastings, Jessie Curtis, Ashleigh Stocks, and Millie Dukes. Yes, we understand we’re a few days behind.
The post we originally typed, got erased, and we had to start fresh! But we’re
the best so we’ll make do!
Today we woke up at 6:30 am to a view of the beaches and
mountains of California. The best bus driver ever, Craig, informed us that we
were five minutes away from our destination, and to start preparing ourselves
for one of the best days of the trip! We got off the bus, and it wasn’t what
any of us were expecting. It was about 50 degrees and cloudy, but we made the
best of it. All before 8:00 am, we had dove head first into the freezing ocean,
and buried each other in the sand! We all met for a breakfast at about 8:30. We had a variety
of cereals and a banana. For some, this wasn’t enough to fill up, so a few of
our campers went to a few different breakfast places. The food was delicious,
but we had multiple comments from different campers about the service, to say
the least, it wasn’t the southern hospitality we are used to.
The rest of the day, we all split up and did our own things!
Some of us went shopping, we took naps, laid out on the beach, ate at local
restaurants, and so many more things! A
lot of our campers went to a summer solstice festival. We got so many free goodies!
If you can think it, we got it! We got free cookies, stickers, box water,
massages, cliff bars, pizza, and a whole lot more! Harrison Miller actually
entered to win a free speaker, best of luck to him! While out in the city of Santa Monica, our campers saw a new
set of scenery. We saw youtubers and even street performers. Our very own,
Charlie Inabinet, actually sang with Seth Baer (local musician), it was such a
beautiful duet!
As of right now, all the groups are practicing for a
competition. The competition is basically the different groups making a theme
song. We’re doing this by using the background music of another song and making
our own original lyrics! But there isn’t really any need for this competition
because everyone already knows that the sleepy group is THE best group J .
For dinner we ate spaghetti and salad, it was legit the BEST
meal we’ve had on this trip, in our opinions. Almost everyone was in line for
seconds. And for dessert, of course, popsicles, delish as always…
We decided to reschedule the competition for another day
since everyone was already SUPER tired. Most everyone was asleep by 9:30, quiet
hours at the campground is 9:00, so that definitely helped everyone fall
asleep. AND there wasn’t any lights that stayed on over night, which everyone
enjoyed!
Sleepies are signing off, good
night blog stalkers.
