Today we got to sleep in with a wake up time of 7am. Most of
us were woken up earlier though by our new friend Josh Jr. the Seagull who was
very loud. (He stole our grilled cheese last night too). We rode for about two
and a half hours, passing time with naps, before making our daily Wal-Mart
stop. We enjoyed the McDonalds sweet tea and coffee per usual. We ate powdered
donuts and apples for breakfast.
Bus riders enjoyed 15 rotations of “speed
dating” and played song association in the two hours before stopping at a gas
station in Nevada. People on Carolina Girl witnessed Will eat all the powdered
donuts, jammed to Da Baby (clean of course), split Wal-Mart Deli fried chicken,
and danced with Brandon to EDM. Miss America riders played Black Jack, Go Fish,
Golf, and Bingo, had a continuous sing-a-long, compared nasty toes, and split
Wal-Mart mac n’ cheese and mashed potatoes.
For lunch we ate ham and cheese on
potato rolls with carrots and ranch. Josh rubbed Jenna’s tortilla in his
armpit. The armpit hair gave extra flavor. After a few more hours of riding we
stopped at the Utah salt flats and took turns licking the ground. Some even
played “what are the odds” and ate inch long chunks of salt. Yummy. Mary
slipped in the salt flats and got dirty. She was a little salty. For dinner we ate tortillas filled with salad and dressing
with chips and dip and pudding for dessert. We then arrived at Desert Peak
Complex where we’ll be sleeping in the convention center tonight. We rushed to
unload, shower, and complete our jobs so we can open mail tonight. Everyone is
super excited to read all of the letters and enjoy the pictures and packages
sent to them. Shout out to Lauren for a big Happy Birthday. We hope 17 is the
best yet!
