Day 13-Yosemite

Day 13: Yosemit

Hey guys, Sneezy group (Sydney Foster, Acerah Strickland, Emily Dotson, Kailee McAlister, Emma Campbell, Cole Languell, Anna Riley Gutierrez, Garret Voorhees, Devin Cooke, Ruthy Brock, Reanna Wilmouth, Piper Gallen, Jacob Woods) has taken over the blog.

Today we woke up at 4:55am and set a new record for our “get ready” time. We were leaving San Francisco in 20 minutes. We took some great naps in the 2 hours before our trip to Wal-Mart. We waited in a “Black Friday line” 10 minutes prior to McDonalds opening to feast on coffee and McMuffins.

Riders on Miss America took a detour to pick up mail. Apparently there are so many boxes the trailer is filled to the brim.  We open mail and packages tomorrow at our next campsite.  After leaving Wal-Mart, the new cooks handed out breakfast including English muffins, peanut butter, and bananas. We rode for about two and a half hours then stopped at a Vons supermarket for a bathroom break. Post bathroom break, we munched on homemade pizzas consisting of tortillas, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, and pepperonis along with Capri-Suns, chips and oatmeal cookies.

After another two hours of great naps and Joe using the bus bathroom (it stinks now, thanks Joe), we arrived at Yosemite National Park and had to wait an hour for Tioga Pass to reopen due to the clearing of snow. We used the luxurious port-a-potties and sang with two of the ten members of a band called Bicicletas Por La Paz. They set up a small drum kit and played the Ukulele while we sang along to some favorites. Henry got the chance to show off his drumming skills along with Piper who lead the singing. We did yoga in the road (and got asked to move by a nice ranger) and played with giant pinecones. Yosemite was beautiful; the views of El Capitan waterfall and the rock faces were indescribable. At it’s peak, we reached 9000 ft above sea level with temperatures of 33 degrees at 3:30pm. We rode another hour and a half to Mona Vista RV Park in Lee Vining, California.

Tonight we’ll be eating grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup then competing in a chanting contest. After that we will enjoy a quick sing-a-long then try to get some sleep for our wonderful day of driving tomorrow.

P.S. Shoutout to whoever left your Pringles on the table… the Sneezy group got hungry.

Miss America got to go help get the mail!!
